Likes and Interests

Activities

Web projects. Glancing at the sky. Saving earthworms after the rain. Counting snails at the cemetery. Protecting the climate. Workout at the gym. Yoga.

Interests

All things science! Consciousness, intelligence and altruism in humans and other species. Sociobiology and evolutionary psychology. Interspecific communication. Biodiversity conservation. Mental health and cognitive enhancement. Pre-digital technology. Robot companions. Spacecraft and space travel. Life in the universe. And other big questions.

Favorite music

Progressive rock, 20th-century art music, and Celtic fusion. The exact choice depends on the mood of the moment. (I think it's possible to detect more than twenty mood categories.) See my music lists...

Favorite TV shows

David Attenborough's nature documentaries, The X-Files (for the sci-fi myth arc and Mulder-Scully dynamics, not for the paranormal rubbish...), Battlestar Galactica, Invasion, Twin Peaks. (To me TV is an obsolete medium, and I watch that stuff on DVD only.)

Having said that, it may be appropriate to recognize how the Web has susbstituted for TV - and excelled at that! Just think about resources like NASA TV, TED Talks, UCtelevision and periodicvideos, for example.

Favorite movies

If I had to name just one, it would be Blade Runner (f.c.) by Ridley Scott. "But then again, who does?" Ha! See my movie lists...

Favorite books

Mostly non-fiction and some science fiction. Few other books. See my book lists...
